The company
Camoplast started building enhanced snowmobile tracks in 1982, in Magog, Quebec. Solid tires and off-road rubber came next, and in 2010 Camoplast joined with Solideal. The combined company launched as Camso in 2015.
That history matters for one practical reason: Camso does not design track systems as a sideline. The same engineering runs across agriculture, construction, material handling and powersports, which means the ATV and UTV systems inherit the flotation and durability lessons of machines far heavier than a side-by-side.
On the powersports side that shows up as five things Camso designs around every time — traction where a tire spins, flotation over snow and soft ground, stability on off-camber terrain, all-season durability rather than a winter-only build, and vehicle-specific mount kits so the system bolts to your machine instead of approximating it.

What tracks change
Five things a track system does that a tire cannot. Where a number belongs to one system rather than the lineup, it says so.
A track puts a long, lugged contact patch on the ground instead of four small ones. On packed snow, ice-glazed ground, mud and loose fill, that is the difference between pulling and spinning.
Spreading vehicle weight over a much larger ground surface is what keeps a machine on top of snow and out of soft ground. Footprint is the number that drives it, and it is the clearest difference between the four systems.

Camso builds the front tracks with flexible edges and a slight inward curve, so the system leans into a sidehill rather than skating across it. Steering stays predictable through long days and long distances.
These are not winter-only attachments. Camso rates its ATV and UTV systems for all-season use, and owners run them through mud, swamp, muskeg and soft summer ground as well as snow. Sustained pavement and hard-surface running is what wears a track prematurely.
A Camso system is sold with a mount kit adapted to a specific make, model and year. That is what makes the fit correct, and it is also why moving a system to a different machine means a new mount kit rather than a new system.

It depends on the make, model and year of your machine, and on the mount kit Camso publishes for it. As a starting point: the UTV ENDUR is for large side-by-sides of 1000cc and more, the 4S1 for full-size UTVs of roughly 400 to 1000cc, the X4S for ATVs of roughly 300 to 1000cc and mid-size UTVs of roughly 400 to 700cc, and the T4S for ATVs of roughly 300 to 1000cc. Displacement alone does not settle it — run your exact machine through the fitment tool on this page, or call us and we will confirm the system and the mount kit before you order.
Mainly the size of the machine they are built for and the size of the footprint they put on the ground. The UTV ENDUR is the heavy-duty system: a 3,265 sq in footprint, 15-inch tracks and a 1.5-inch rear lug, for large side-by-sides doing heavy work. The 4S1 is the all-around full-size UTV system at 2,520 sq in. The X4S is the versatile system that covers both ATVs and mid-size UTVs, and the T4S is the ATV-focused system; both run about 2,000 sq in. Yes. Camso builds its ATV and UTV systems for all-season use, and owners run them through mud, swamp, muskeg and soft ground as much as snow. What shortens the life of a rubber track is sustained running on pavement, gravel and other hard, abrasive surfaces, along with high sustained speed. Short transitions across a hard surface are normal; a long road commute on tracks is not what they are built for.
Expect to travel meaningfully slower than you do on tires. Camso publishes an average maintained speed of about two-thirds of tire speed for the 4S1 and T4S, which is a reasonable planning figure across the lineup. The actual number depends on your machine, gearing, load and the ground you are on, so treat it as a planning estimate rather than a specification. Tracks also add rotating weight and drag, so most owners run in low range in deep conditions.
Yes, though the amount varies by system and machine. Camso publishes an average increase of about 5 inches for the UTV 4S1 and about 3 inches for the ATV T4S and X4S compared with tires. Because the figure depends on your machine as well as the system, check the specification on the product page for the system you are considering rather than assuming a number across the lineup.
Often, but not always, and it is never just a matter of unbolting them. The track system itself may carry over if the new machine is in the same class the system is rated for; what changes is the mount kit, which Camso builds specific to a make, model and year. Depending on the two machines, hub, sprocket or suspension components may change as well. Tell us the machine the system is on now and the machine you want it on, and we will confirm whether the transfer works and price the exact parts list.
A Camso track system is sold as four track units — two front, two rear — with an adapted mount kit for the specific vehicle it is ordered for. That is why fitment is collected before the order rather than after. If you are buying a used system, the mount kit on it belongs to whatever machine it came off, so confirm the kit separately.
Start with the serial number. Camso systems carry a serial number that identifies the model year and configuration, and our parts lookup turns that into the exploded diagram for your system so you can order the individual component. That covers current systems and older Camso and Camoplast ones. If the number is worn off or the system predates the lookup, call us with photos and we can usually identify it.
